Licensed Professional Counselor/Counselor in Training

The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is seeking an energetic, compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor/Counselor-in-Training to provide services as part of an innovative interdisciplinary treatment team for mentally ill forensic clients in a high-security setting. Successful candidates will demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma-informed, recovery-based environment.

• Perform assessment, admission, client counseling, prognosis, placement, treatment, and/or discharge planning functions.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop treatment plans, discuss client progress, and implement possible changes in treatment strategy.
• Design behavior modification programs for individual clients and monitor the implementation process; work with other staff members to implement these programs; answer questions for direct care staff concerning problem areas.
• May supervise counselors-in-training and other staff.

• Possession of a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Counselor in the State of Missouri.
• Or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling or Guidance with a minimum of 48 earned graduate credit hours.
