Overview
Elementary School Classroom Teacher Grades 2 at Farmington School District. This role involves facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district approved curriculum, documenting progress, addressing individual educational needs, and creating a safe learning environment. Feedback on student progress is provided to students, parents and administration.
Responsibilities- Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters in accordance with laws and school regulations.
- Stays current in the educational field by attending professional development opportunities or engaging in research.
- Maintains accurate records for grading, reporting and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
- Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures student conduct aligns with school standards and district policies; maintains a positive learning environment.
- Coordinates with elementary professional staff to evaluate and assess curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Assists in selecting and requisitioning appropriate instructional materials and maintains inventory records.
- Supervises students in activities outside the classroom during the school day, including transportation-related activities.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
- Certification/License:
State Certification as an Elementary Teacher;
State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred. - Education:
Bachelors in Elementary Education or related discipline;
Masters Degree preferred. - Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.

Travels to district buildings and professional meetings as required. - Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and pedagogy; knowledge of elementary curriculum and federal/state education laws; ability to differentiate instruction; ability to use computer systems; ability to communicate effectively with students and parents; ability to engage in ongoing professional growth; ability to establish cooperative working relationships. - Physical and Mental Demands:
Works in standard office and school environments.
