GeneralJob Description
Responsible for enrolling employees for benefit plans, reconciling billing and statements, verifying employee payroll deductions, and working with the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority to ensure employees’ paperwork is complete for enrollment.

- Explains to employees the district’s benefit package.
- Develops/maintains creative, effective ways to communicate available FMS benefits, options and avenues of support to employees.
- Reconciles all deductions and premium statements from carriers.
- Stays current on all Federal, State and district regulations regarding insurance, cafeteria plan and 403(b).
- Assists employees with enrollment and termination of coverage.
- Keeps updated spreadsheets and databases of employee coverage by carrier.
- Fills enrollment forms by carrier.
- Handles fall open enrollment.
- Assists staff with NMERB questions and processes.
- Processes workers compensation claims.
- Processes ADA accommodation requests.
- Prepares and submits the Federal ACA 1095C report annually.
- Distributes information as appropriate.
- Manages FMLA, sick leave bank and leave donation.
- Maintains files, lists schedules, calendars and other data.
- Follows district policies and administrative rules and regulations.
- Engages in self‑development and training on benefits administration.
- Meets deadlines on reports/projects.
- Assists in other duties as part of HR department.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum six years of advanced independent clerical work in public or private sector.
- Proficient in Excel, Word and adopting new computer systems/platforms.
- Experience in a public education clerical setting preferred.
- Experience with benefits administration preferred.
Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. Required activities may include sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, and moving light furniture.
Work EnvironmentMust be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self‑motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision.
