Position: Substitute - PreK to 12

General
Job Description:
Substitute teachers are hired to perform instructional duties in the absence of the teacher or assist the teacher in the absence of the EA.
- Follow instructional lesson plans left by the teacher.
- Maintain classroom management for a safe environment.
- Follow the code of ethics.
- Be a good role model for students.
- Work as a member of the school team.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with staff, parents and students.
- Keep all information confidential.
- Be prompt and courteous.
- Dress and act professionally.
- Accept other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the principal.
- Minimum Education requirement:
Substitutes must have earned a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate - 10-Print Electronic Fingerprint Background Check - $59.00 Debit or Credit (non-refundable)
- Scheduled at the time of on-boarding appointment.
- Hold a valid New Mexico substitute teaching license - $50.00 Debit or Credit (non-refundable) - Please do not try to apply for license prior to onboarding appointment.
- This license requires 3 hours of classroom observation - instructions will be provided.
- Instructions on how to apply online will be shared during on-boarding.
- 18 years of age for grades PreK - 8 and 21 years of age for grades 9-12
Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. The following may be required:
Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.
Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work EnvironmentMust be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. Duty assignments before and after the bell might be required.
Terms of EmploymentDaily rate and work calendar established yearly by the district.
Substitutes are required to take assignments a minimum of three days a month to be considered active. Unless a resignation is received, employment will automatically roll to the next school year. Substitutes are not eligible for unemployment benefits during holiday breaks or summer break and are hired as an at-will employee and may be discharged at any time without cause.

- 31 to 59 College Credits - 120.00 per day
- 60+ College Credits (regardless of degree level) - 125.00 per day
