New Mexico Donor Services (NMDS) is a designated organ procurement organization (OPO) and a member of the DCI Donor Services family. Our mission is to save lives through organ donation, and we partner with hospitals to create a nationwide network of organ and tissue donation.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a marketing plan to change physician and hospital practice in donor referral and family counseling processes.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of hospital markets to identify donor potential and engage decision makers.
- Assess education needs and design educational plans for assigned hospitals.
- Establish multi‑disciplinary councils and facilitate consensus on donation standards and processes.
- Provide field coaching and feedback to improve written and oral communication, public relations, and negotiation skills.
- Build and maintain relationships with referring physicians, nursing staff, and hospital leadership.
- Disseminate data and research on increasing organ and tissue donation to academic audiences and policy committees.
- Design curriculum and conduct professional education programs.
- Address customer‑service issues and coordinate follow‑up plans for conflict resolution.
- Make policy recommendations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop and conduct accredited educational programs and customized materials for presentations.
- Support internal staff and maintain robust hospital profiles.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all hospital‑development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BA or BS in Business, Education, Public Health, or a related health‑care field.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Excellent customer‑service skills.
- 2–4 years in healthcare families, counseling, bereavement, or crisis intervention, or 3–5 years in hospital relations or OPO.
- Experience with performance‑improvement strategies, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with physicians, nurses, and administrators.
- Experience initiating and leading multi‑disciplinary teams or councils to improve donation practices.
- Experience delivering hospital‑based education or in‑service training programs.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required.
Compensation and Benefits- Up to 176 hours of PTO in the first year.
- Up to 72 hours of sick time in the first year.
