We are looking for an observant and detail-oriented Sales Application Engineer to join our team and our thriving workplace culture.
Job Summary:
The Sales Application Engineer will combine technical proficiency in warehouse automation technologies with sales acumen to deliver tailored solutions that enhance warehouse efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve order and process accuracy. This role involves collaborating with customers to understand their needs, creating conceptual designs, presenting solutions, and staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in customer calls (virtual and in-person) to gather requirements, identify challenges, and understand operational needs.
- Develop conceptual drawings and system designs based on customer requirements using tools like AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Demo3D simulation software.
- Present concepts and solutions to both internal teams and customers in a clear and compelling manner.
- Provide technical support during the sales process, making recommendations to optimize warehouse efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance accuracy.
- Stay informed about state-of-the-art warehouse automation technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into designs.
- Travel to customer sites for on-site consultations, system assessments, and occasional installation support.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, sales, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in material handling systems and warehouse automation, including:
- Barcode scanning and print-and-apply systems
- Warehouse control systems (WCS) and warehouse management software
- Conveyor handling systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, Demo3D simulation software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable with virtual and in-person technical sales and customer interactions.
- Willingness to travel overnight (up to 25%) for customer site visits and installations.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in warehouse design and automation systems
- Experience in a customer-facing technical sales or applications engineering role.
- Knowledge of emerging warehouse automation technologies and industry trends.
- Proficiency in Demo3D, Flex Sim or similar animations/simulation software a plus.
