Are you an experienced Safety professional with a strong background in Defence programmes? We’re working with a leading client to find a SC cleared Safety Manager to support critical electronic surveillance systems within the Defence sector. If you are SC cleared and have a proven track record managing safety in complex military environments, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.
Location& Working Arrangements
- Based in Bristol with hybrid working options: 2 days onsite per week
- Start date:
ASAP - Contract until 31 March 2027, with potential for extension
- Standard working hours: 7.5 hours per day
Competitive day rate up to £600 (inside IR35), fully umbrella compliant, dependent on experience.
What You’ll DoAs the JES Safety Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert support on Safety Assessments, Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, and Safety Management Plans within the JES equipment portfolio.
- Ensuring all project safety activities are compliant with UK/EU legislation and Defence Standards, including DEF STAN 00-056.
- Leading hazard analysis activities such as HAZOP, FTA, and FMEA to derive safety requirements.
- Acting as the safety SME, presenting evidence-based safety arguments to senior stakeholders, including Chief Engineers and project governance boards.
- Supporting the development of safety management systems and maintaining safety registers, including fault and incident records.
- Advising on safety governance and ensuring all safety policies are adhered to during the project lifecycle.
We’d love to hear from candidates who bring:
- Extensive experience in system safety management within Defence programmes.
- In-depth knowledge of Defence Standards and Defence Safety Management policies.
- Proven background in hazard analysis techniques including HAZOP, FMEA, and FTA.
- Experience working with Defence acquisition processes and projects.
- SC Security Clearance (minimum requirement).
- Membership of a recognised Safety Professional Institute or equivalent.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineering status.
- Experience managing safety for systems used across Land, Air, and Maritime environments.
