Role OverviewAs an Associate Monitoring Analyst, you’ll provide foundational support for monitoring activities across infrastructure and applications. This entry-level role focuses on learning core monitoring tools, assisting with alert reviews, and contributing to service reliability under supervision. It offers a pathway to develop technical skills and gain exposure to enterprise IT operations while supporting the wide monitoring team.
Day-to-day, you’ll monitor platforms, infrastructures & applications, general infrastructure maintenance, cloud monitoring, patching & vulnerability scanning and user experience monitoring across an enterprise IT environment with a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting with the setup and basic operation of monitoring tools such as Solar Winds, Splunk, and Azure Monitor, maintaining tool stability and sharing observations
- Reviewing alerts and logs with guidance to support incident identification, escalating any issues appropriately
- Supporting routine checks on virtual server estates and system software, assisting with patching and availability
- Using cloud‑native tools to support visibility across hybrid environments and participating in cloud monitoring activities under supervision
- Using basic scripting to automate simple monitoring tasks and learning and applying automation techniques to improve efficiency
- Participating in patching and vulnerability scanning activities under supervision using tools such as Qualys, Nessus, or Microsoft Defender with guidance from senior analysts
- Exposure to monitoring tools such as Splunk, Solar Winds, or similar platforms through training or hands‑on support
- Familiarity with virtualisation platforms and cloud services
- Previous experience working in a 2nd line/3rd line IT role
- Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Power Shell) and a proactive attitude towards learning
- Introductory understanding of cloud monitoring and hybrid infrastructure
- Strong willingness to learn and contribute to service operations

Working Hours & LocationThis role is 37 hours per week based at either our Malvern, Farnborough or Boscombe Down sites with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. To cover shift patterns between GMT you may be asked to work at specific times. As part of a commitment to maintaining high service availability and rapid incident response, this role will also be required to participate in an on‑call rota.
