Farnborough (On-Site) Security Clearance:
Current SC Clearance is essential. The client is willing to sponsor DV Clearance. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically complex programmes where you'll be responsible for deploying, configuring and maintaining security platforms within modern Kubernetes environments. You'll collaborate with Platform, Dev Ops and Engineering teams to embed security throughout the software delivery lifecycle while supporting solutions that protect some of the UK's most sensitive systems.
The Role As a Security Platform Engineer, you'll take ownership of configuring and managing security tooling across cloud-native platforms, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient and compliant. This is a hands-on technical position focused on platform security, automation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Deploy, configure and maintain security tooling within Kubernetes environments. Administer and optimise Splunk for log aggregation, monitoring, alerting and threat detection. Deploy and manage Nessus for vulnerability scanning, reporting and remediation. Configure and manage Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tooling. Integrate security solutions into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native platforms. Automate security processes using scripting and Infrastructure as Code. Work closely with Platform, Dev Ops and Engineering teams to embed security best practices.
Maintain configuration documentation and infrastructure as code. Support the ongoing improvement of platform security, observability and operational resilience. Essential Skills & Experience Current SC Clearance with willingness to progress to DV Clearance . Proven experience as a Security Engineer, Platform Engineer or similar. Hands-on Kubernetes administration and security experience. Strong experience administering Splunk . Experience deploying and managing Nessus vulnerability scanning.
Experience deploying and managing EDR solutions. Knowledge of Kubernetes observability tools (e.g. Fluent Bit). Understanding of container security principles and cloud-native security. Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash or similar). Experience configuring SIEM platforms. Understanding of security frameworks and threat frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK .
Desirable Experience with Microsoft Defender.
Experience with additional SIEM or observability platforms. Dev Sec Ops and CI/CD pipeline security experience. Security certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CISSP or CEH . Exposure to threat modelling and security architecture.
