Job Description & How to Apply Below

We're on the lookout for a Recruitment Specialist who’s not just technically sharp and commercially savvy, but who truly gives a damn. At The Little HR Department, we’re a small, passionate team that punches well above our weight, and we love helping our amazing clients.

Our clients trust us to bring energy, know-how and heart to every conversation, so you’ll need to be proactive, dependable, and able to flex with the fast pace and variety that comes with working in (and with) small business. If you're the kind of person who leads with positivity, does the right thing (even when no one’s watching), and wants to make a genuine difference to the people you support, we’d love to hear from you!

We work Monday – Thursday, have an office base in Farnham, Surrey and have a flexible approach to how we work. We are looking for someone to work around 10-15 hours per week, you can work remotely, but if you would like to be in the office for a day or two to see the team, that works for us!

ABOUT US

The Little HR Department was founded in 2018 and is proudly run by two experienced HR professionals who wanted to break free from the corporate world and do things differently. We’re all about supporting brilliant start-ups and small to medium organisations across the UK, offering flexible, down-to-earth HR support that fits their world — not the other way around.

Our clients span a wide mix of sectors, and we love getting stuck in, building trusted relationships and delivering high-quality, human HR that really makes a difference.

Our core values are:
  • Human
  • Give a damn
  • Dependable
  • Positive
  • Have a conscience
THE ROLE

As our recruitment expert, you will:

  • Take the lead on recruitment across our client base, partnering closely with hiring managers and working hand in hand with the HR Consultant to support our clients.
  • Run the end-to-end recruitment process (or part of it, depending on client requirements) for a wide range of roles — from shaping the brief and crafting great job ads, sourcing strategy & pre‑screening; to interviewing, offering, and supporting smooth onboarding.
  • Be the go‑to person for all things recruitment, sharing your expertise with both our clients and our internal team.
  • Use benchmarking to recommend fair, competitive reward packages that attract the right talent.
  • Support strong selection processes that add value by developing interview questions, practical tasks, competency scenarios and online assessments that really help identify great people.
  • Use our ATS and other recruitment platforms confidently, while managing the relationship with our external ATS partner.
  • Create a friendly, engaging and professional experience for every candidate, every time.
  • Stay curious about what’s happening in the recruitment world—tools, trends, insights—and share anything useful with the team.
  • Lead on developing recruitment tools and templates that help us (and our clients) work smarter.
  • Play a key role in growing and shaping our recruitment offering, helping us bring it to even more clients in meaningful ways.
  • Help us develop training on recruitment and (if you want to) deliver this to our clients as needed.
OUR DREAM PERSON
  • Cracking recruitment knowledge, common sense and able to apply that knowledge practically
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deliver to deadlines
  • An organisation King or Queen! Ability to work under pressure and in a busy start‑up environment
  • Can demonstrate that they can act as a true and trusted expert
  • Loves taking ownership of things and making them happen
  • Loves finding better ways of working and turning them into real impact
  • Commercially minded but also not afraid to show our value of “have a conscience” where needed
  • Will be flexible and open‑minded with an energetic and positive approach to their work
  • Confident and a great communicator, someone who builds strong relationships and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone
  • Willing to get stuck into whatever is needed to support the broader team
  • Is not afraid of the sometimes‑chaotic world of small businesses
  • Has a great sense of humour (this is a value we hold very dear)
