Sunday Outdoor Maintenance Assistant

Are you looking for steady part-time work on Sundays that keeps you active, outdoors and making a visible difference in the local community? We are looking for a reliable Sunday Outdoor Maintenance Assistant to help keep Farnham’s green spaces, public areas and public conveniences clean, safe and welcoming. You will be working through Personnel Selection recruitment on behalf of our local authority client.

This is a hands-on, independent role for someone who enjoys practical work, is comfortable working in all weather conditions and takes pride in keeping public spaces well-presented. You will be working every Sunday on an ongoing basis, covering split hours from 8.30am–2.00pm and 5.00pm–6.00pm. The role pays £12.71 per hour, plus holiday pay, and is available to start immediately for the right candidate.

You will be working within a team but independently across Farnham and the surrounding local areas, so a full driving licence is required. Uniform will be provided.

What you’ll be doing You’ll help open, maintain, check and close a range of communal outdoor areas across the town. The work is varied and practical, with a strong focus on keeping public spaces clean, safe and ready for the community to use. Opening and locking communal areas, gardens and car parks. Watering and weeding garden areas. Checking playground sites for defects, damage or safety concerns and reporting issues promptly.

Inspecting playground areas and completing the required documentation. Checking public conveniences are clean, stocked with soap and toilet roll, and ready for use. Emptying bins, sweeping facilities and litter picking. Watering, weeding and helping with general upkeep of green spaces. Taking pride in leaving each area clean, tidy and safe for residents and visitors. It may also suit someone retired or semi-retired who is looking for regular Sunday work, or an active student with a driver’s licence who wants weekend hours that fit around their studies. This is a practical role where a positive, can-do approach matters. Reliable, punctual and comfortable working every Sunday on an ongoing basis. Happy working outside in different weather conditions.

Confident working alone but reporting to the team. Managing a set working routine across multiple locations. Practical, observant and willing to report problems quickly. Comfortable with cleaning, litter picking, light grounds work and general outdoor maintenance. It is essential you have a driving licence, as the role covers various areas around Farnham.
