Job Description Health & Safety Assistant

We are recruiting for a Health & Safety Assistant to join a growing business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on site, building strong working relationships and promoting a positive health and safety culture. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you'll support multiple sites by carrying out inspections, assisting with investigations and helping ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the business.

This is a varied, hands-on role offering excellent opportunities for career development within an established and expanding organisation.

  • Carry out regular site inspections and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with managers to agree and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support the delivery of a positive health and safety culture across multiple sites.
  • Assist with site inductions and toolbox talks where required.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
  • Support the review and update of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Assist with COSHH assessments and health and safety documentation.
  • Help prepare for internal and external audits.
  • Monitor and track health and safety actions to ensure completion.
  • Provide day-to-day health and safety support to operational teams.

Skills & Experience
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or willingness to work towards achieving it.
  • Previous experience within a health and safety role is desirable.
  • Confident carrying out site inspections and incident investigations.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
