Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger – create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals for the department and monitor quality assurance standards. • Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use all equipment in bakery (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe with appropriate utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality for freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Operate kitchen equipment (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.).
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products on request.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department; respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates; create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering product questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs; identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict calmly and constructively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
• Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
