General Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for assisting the Program Nurse in the development, supervision, coordination, and implementation of the Head Start (including Early Head Start) and GSRP program in designated area as required by the Head Start Performance Standards and state and federal mandates.
  • Support quality program service delivery.
  • Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.
Specific Duties :
  • Work closely with ECS Program Nurse and the EHS/HS Directors in meeting program and overall departmental monthly, quarterly, annual goals and objectives and ensuring all areas of service are in compliance and continually improving.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for documentation, multi-disciplinary team information, and tracking systems for Health Services.
  • Train and assist staff in the documentation, implementation, and monitoring of the Health component.
  • Assist the Program Nurse to develop procedures for the coordination of health services with community partners to include but not limited to: local practitioners, dentists, health departments, disability programs and/or community agencies who are involved with MMCAA.
  • Participate in all Health Services Advisory Committee meetings as needed when Program Nurse is not available.
  • Enter health related data
  • Support all aspects of the health component.
  • Work collaboratively with ECS EHS and HS Management Team to make sure all areas of service are supported in compliance and continual quality improvement.
  • Collect review and analyze data for program reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Train and assist staff in the documentation, implementation and monitoring of the health component.
  • Provide support to EHS and HS/Preschool staff as requested and needed.
  • Support a comprehensive orientation for new staff as needed to support the Program Nurse.
  • Accurately complete required program documentation and record keeping in a neat and timely manner.
  • Update on a regular basis specific position how-to’s and timeline.
  • Responsible for being a positive, innovative, and supportive team player and promoting a healthy work environment.
  • Recruit families and promote agency programs within the community.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems as they arise.
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities and other training options as identified and approved by supervisors.
  • Attend community events and meetings as needed to support the agency programs, including evening and weekend events/meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Qualifications:
  • Education? Minimum HS Diploma with 2 years’ experience in a medical/clinical or office setting. Associate degree in health science, Health Education, Nutritional Science or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a medical/clinical or office setting

  • Excellent recordkeeping skills
  • Head Start/Early Head Start/GSRP experience preferred.
  • Must complete 15 hours of annual training in addition to CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire or first available session thereafter.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strength-based leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information to groups.
  • Knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Great Start Readiness Program Implementation Manual, and State Licensing Regulations preferred.
