Faversham Medical Group is looking to recruit a Practice Nurse to work at Newton Place Surgery and Faversham Medical Practice.
NHS Agenda for Change Pay Scale Band 6
Up to 37.5 hours a week. Shift pattern is negotiable, but Saturday working is required.
NHS Pension Scheme membership (subject to eligibility). Transparent and equitable pay structure aligned with Agenda for Change. Previous NHS length of service will be taken into account. Agenda for Change entitlements include annual leave, sick pay and maternity pay. Access to NHS staff benefits, discounts and schemes.
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be carried out as part of recruitment procedures and also regularly during employment. The responsibility for payment of this lies with the Practice.
Successful applicants will also require evidence of immunity to infectious diseases for the wellbeing and protection of staff. Staff that do not wish to be vaccinated can discuss this if successful.
Safeguarding training must remain up to date and the safeguarding policies and procedures in place within the Practice will be adhered to during employment.

Main duties of the jobThe Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Faversham Medical Group.
Job responsibilities- Assist and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cervical Cytology
- Wound care/ulcer care, performance of dopplers, tissue viability assessment
- Removal of sutures/clips
- New patient health checks (including opportunistic health promotion)
- Travel Clinic
- ECGs
- Peak flow readings/spirometry
- Venepuncture
- Blood pressure checks
- Ear syringing
- Urinalysis
- Routine immunisations including childhood immunisations
- COVID‑19 vaccinating, including in care homes
- Chaperone and assist patients being examined by another clinician
- Assist GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Request pathology tests (e.g., urine culture, swabs)
- Manage long‑term conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes
- Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Contraception reviews
- Maintain clinical equipment, including calibration, repairs, accurate record‑keeping
- Provide support and advice for cervical screening
- Maintain GP and nurses rooms, stock and rotate items as required
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Maintain stock of waiting‑room leaflets as instructed by Partners and Business Manager
- Order supplies and clinical resources within budget
- Order vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participate in administrative systems in the Practice
- Maintain accurate records at all times
- Notify senior nurses of potential problems or errors within assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in Faversham Medical Group meetings when required
- On occasion may undertake home visits, including INR and immunisations
- Ensure vaccination cold chain protocol is followed and know how to respond to a cold chain adverse incident
- Act as mentor and positive role‑model to students and junior staff, sharing information and good practice
- Perform any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

- Post holder may have access to confidential information about patients, staff and the practice. All such information is strictly confidential.
- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues or the business may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with policy.
- Implement and lead on health & safety and infection control as defined in practice policy.
