Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Waking Night Staff
Role Overview

As the waking night staff member you will:

* Be awake and alert throughout the night, supporting the children, responding to any incidents, behaviours or needs in a calm, therapeutic manner.

* Drive if required (transporting children, responding to incidents off‑site, escorting to appointments) – so a full driving licence is mandatory.

* Work collaboratively with awake day staff, the therapist, house manager and wider team to ensure continuity of care and consistency of approaches.

* Apply your knowledge and experience of EBD, trauma, behavioural interventions, de‑escalation techniques and therapeutic models to support children’s emotional regulation, safety and growth.

* Contribute to night‑time routines, monitoring, recording incidents, behaviours and safeguarding concerns, and liaising with other team members at handover.

* Support a stable, nurturing environment where children feel safe, understood and supported even through night hours.

What We’re Looking For

* A full UK driving licence, confident driving and willingness to provide driver cover when needed.

* Experience working with children and young people who have Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

* Experience working within or under a therapeutic model of care (e.g., trauma‑informed, attachment‑aware, behaviour management frameworks).

* Very good communication skills, emotionally resilient, calm under pressure, able to manage challenging behaviour with therapeutic insight.

* Commitment to waking night duties on a 4 on / 4 off schedule and working collaboratively as part of a small team in a 4‑bed children’s home.

* Enthusiasm for being part of a setting that values therapeutic care, growth, safety and young people’s wellbeing.

Why Join Us?

* A permanent contract offering stability and longer‑term development rather than bank or agency nights.

* Competitive salary of £32,000 per annum for night duties – meaning the waking night role is properly valued.

* Generous holiday entitlement of 30 days paid leave (on top of bank holidays) recognising our team’s need for rest and recovery.

* Opportunity to work in a specialist therapeutic children’s home setting where you can make a genuine difference in the lives of children who really need consistent, skilled waking night support.

* Be part of a dedicated team in a supportive environment with on‑site therapeutic input, where your insights and experience will be valued and you will have ongoing learning opportunities.

* Location:

Faversham – enjoy working in this Kent town while knowing you are part of a vital children’s service
