Assist in the timely preparation, service, and delivery of meals and snacks; assist in daily or scheduled cleaning and sanitation of equipment, dishes, floors, and utensils following established policies and procedures. Ensure proper storage of all foods.
Responsibilities- Prepare special items, desserts, fruits, pureed foods and thickened fluids according to safety, sanitation, and preparation policies and procedures; use correct hand washing and glove procedures.
- Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness in coolers, freezers, and storerooms while putting up food using FIFO rotation.
- Set up tray line and assemble trays for meal service in a timely manner with attention to diet orders, menu preferences, eye appeal, and food quality while keeping talk to a minimum during assembly; follow correct policies for storing, labeling, and using leftovers.
- Deliver meals to hospital patients using two patient identifiers, a friendly tone, a smile, and ask the patient if they need anything else or are enjoying their food; communicate problems or physical needs to nursing staff and food complaints to food service management.
- Prepare dirty trays, plates, glasses, silverware, etc., for dishwashing; operate the dish machine correctly, check and record water temperatures, take corrective action as appropriate, keep the machine clean and well maintained; use correct ware washing practices and safety procedures.
- Take pride in keeping the kitchen and equipment clean, sanitized, and polished as per policy; use chemicals safely, keep the chemical room organized, and ensure pathways to fire equipment are clear.
- Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
- Perform compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards, including creating positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, colleagues, and with oneself.
- Use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet as required.
- Adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred; on‑the‑job training provided, no previous experience required.
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
