The purpose of this position is to coordinate marketing and events for the city. The work consists of varied administrative and program coordination duties.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential FunctionsThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Performs event planning, organizing, and implementing assigned programs and activities.
- Assists with the Designing and publishing of marketing materials, including news releases, brochures, flyers, posters, catalog pages and signage; and to market through additional resources including departmental website and social media pages.
- Assists with the Monitoring and evaluates special events, processes payments, and maintains statistical information on attendance and revenue.
- Assist with the sponsor ships for amphitheater, special events and city-sponsored events while maintaining relationship with current sponsors.
- Represents the city at city-sponsored events and other events as required; prepares and operates trade show booths for event services.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Relations or related major preferred.
- Two (2) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and pulling and raising objects and involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis with assistance.
- Requires the ability to perform repetitive movements related to setting up and breaking down event equipment (e.g. tables, chairs, tents, displays).
- Requires good manual dexterity to and hand-eye coordination to safely handle, assemble, and transport materials and equipment.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Bright/dim light;
Dusts and pollen.
Extreme heat and/or cold;
Wet or humid conditions.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
