Key Responsibilities

The Hall Director is an integral component to the success of the Residence Education area for University Housing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating a community where academics and community involvement are honored.
  • Facilitating an environment within the residence hall that supports students' and staff's academic, social, physical and cultural development.
  • Providing day‑to‑day management leadership of the hall or complex to create a safe, clean and comfortable environment.
  • Articulating the philosophy and policies of University Housing, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University to students and representing student needs to the administration.
  • Maintaining regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance and fostering collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in sociology, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least two years of experience in program administration or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a directly related field.
  • Graduate and/or full‑time experience with community living and leadership development.
  • At least three years of experience in program administration or a related area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of how to plan and organize events for students.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
