Summary ofJob Duties
The Staff Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical, electrical & plumbing design for FAMA shop construction & job order projects. This staff engineer may perform inspections; provide technical assistance & code research to clients and FAMA shops; provide information & direction and oversight to on-call design firms; review construction documents/cost estimates/work orders; prepare 'as-built' drawings for fire alarm systems, safety showers, emergency & exit lights, generators, backflow preventors, utilities, campus lighting, etc.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
- Licensed as a professional engineer in the State of Arkansas
- At least five years experience in mechanical engineering/system design
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Lighting, Power, Data System & Fire protection system design
- Experience defining project scope
- Experience writing specifications and producing construction documents
- Experience with energy modeling
- LEED accreditation or similar sustainability credential
- AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, IMC, etc.)
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and lifecycle cost analysis
