Structural Engineer – Fayetteville, Arkansas
As part of the Water Design Center’s Structural Group, the Structural Engineer will assist in the development of Structural Designs to support various Water Business Line projects. The primary focus is on new water and wastewater treatment plants or improvements to existing facilities.
Responsibilities include developing detailed drawings and specifications for water and wastewater treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, and site retaining walls; preparing design calculations; coordinating with other discipline activities and regional offices; estimating construction costs; and implementing quality assurance and control. The Project Engineer will also support the Group Leader by coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring the delivery of quality work in accordance with Garver standardization.
QualifiedCandidates
- Technically competent in structural engineering
- Experience working with multi‑disciplined teams (civil, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control) on water and wastewater treatment plant projects
- Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
- Experience assisting in project budgeting, including scope of work, level of effort, and man‑hour estimates
- Strong time‑management and work‑product quality focus
- Accurate and up‑to‑date project accounting skills
- Excellent written and oral reporting for clients and team leaders (status updates, milestones, accounting, progress reports, etc.)
- Assistance in preparing and executing Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans for projects
- Participation in internal and external workshops
- Commitment to continuing education and learning based on project needs
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
- 1+ years of technical experience in structural design engineering
- Basic understanding of structural engineering design in concrete, masonry, and steel
- EIT license or ability to obtain a PE registration within 24 months
- Master’s Degree in civil or structural engineering
- Registration as a SE or willingness to take the NCEES Structural Engineer exam within 2 years
- Working knowledge of Revit CAD programs
- Experience with structural complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of process, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & control disciplines
- Active participation in local professional trade organizations
Some travel may be required for site assessment and construction support.
