Robotics & Controls Specialist – Fayetteville, AR
• 6-month Temporary Contract
Convergix Automation is a global automation systems integrator that designs, builds, tests, and integrates custom solutions to automate our customers’ operations. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge robotic projects across North America, with opportunities to travel and exposure to diverse industries.
Note:
The role may require working weekends or outside standard hours. Travel to customer sites in North America is up to 20% of your time, typically 1–2 weeks per trip.
Are you a relentless problem solver with a passion for innovation? Convergix Automation is seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as a Robotics & Controls Specialist on a 6-month temporary contract. You will work on programming PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, and vision systems to ensure our automation equipment meets high standards. You may travel to customer sites across North America to install, commission, and train users.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expertise to the engineering team during early project stages to develop functional specifications and design direction.
- Assist mechanical and electrical design teams with hardware selection, testing, and integration (robots, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems).
- Design and develop code for automation equipment (PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, vision systems) in line with functional requirements and internal standards.
- Develop software programs tailored to customer and project requirements using standard Convergix methods.
- Debug and commission control systems at Convergix facilities and customer sites.
- Test machine functionality to ensure system integrity and compliance with customer specifications.
- Travel to customer and supplier sites for installation, commissioning, and training.
- Collaborate with systems design and other teams to enhance controls technology integration for safety, functionality, and cost-efficiency.
- Adhere to labor and material budgets and delivery schedules.
- Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to deliver comprehensive automation systems.
- Prepare documentation including operator, maintenance, and training manuals for each project.
- Provide technical problem-solving support and training to customers.
Qualifications and experience:
- Experience with industrial robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and vision systems.
- Intermediate skill with Fanuc or ABB robots, Rockwell/AB controls and Factory Talk View HMIs.
- Preferred:
Cognex/Keyence vision systems. - Strong drive for continuous learning in industrial automation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team and with diverse customers.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget with customer satisfaction.
- Background in debugging, testing, and solving programming, mechanical, and electrical problems.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or comparable) preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to navigate complex project constraints; portfolio of relevant projects preferred.
- Experience with robotic line tracking and palletizing applications preferred.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the US and Canada.
