Main Tasks
- Design & Development:
Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications for mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using tools AutoCAD or AutoCAD Inventor. - Manufacturability Focus:
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize designs for ease, speed, and cost of production. - Prototyping & Testing:
Develop and oversee machine part builds, conduct physical and virtual testing (FEA analysis), and refine designs based on performance and manufacturability feedback. - Collaboration:
Work closely with manufacturing, materials, quality, and production teams to resolve design-to-production issues. - Specifications & Documentation:
Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering drawings. Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and technical reviews. - Process Support:
Assist in process validation, equipment setup, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth production start-up. - Project Management:
Manage timelines, budgets, and resources for design and development projects. Set-up team reviews and process sign-offs. - Compliance & Standards:
Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards. - Review project requirements and translate them into mechanical design specifications 80% of time devoted to design and 20% of time devoted to engineering functions.
- Create and refine CAD models, run simulations, prepare manufacturing drawings / layouts.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and ensure production readiness.
- Document design iterations provide multiple proposals with suggested pros and cons for each. Request manufacturing feedback.
