The role of the Credentialing Specialist reports to the Director of Medical Staff Services. This position is responsible for the processes related to credentialing and privileging of providers. The position provides support to the Senior Credentialing Specialist, Director of Medical Staff Services, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Staff Leaders, the Organized Medical Staff, departments, and committees.
Essential Position Responsibilities- Collect applications for initial and reappointment of providers
- Obtain proper and complete verification of necessary documents as required by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Allied Professionals policies
- Assist with maintaining electronic credentialing files
- Maintain a high level of compliance with HIPAA guidelines and release of information processes
- Attend meetings as assigned by the Director and transcribe minutes
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED, required. - Licensure and
Certifications:
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required within 3-5 years of hire. - Experience:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a previous credentialing role, required.
This position will spend 80% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 20% standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs.
