PositionSummary
The role of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist reports to the Imaging Manager and is responsible for performing diagnostic MRI imaging.
Essential Position Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic MRI imaging in accordance with radiologists’ protocols.
- Communicate pertinent information to the radiologist to ensure quality care for the patient.
- Conduct a thorough pre‑procedure screening before patient entry into the scanning room (Zone IV).
- Ensure any implanted patient device is MRI compatible and set to MRI mode prior to entering the scan room (Zone IV).
- Verify patient identity, review physician orders, and confirm appropriate exams before imaging.
- Enter charges and documentation into the electronic medical record.
- Assist with other duties to maintain efficient workflow of the Imaging Department as needed.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited MRI technologist program with ARRT (R)(MR) or ARMRIT certification; registry‑eligible graduates will be considered. Certification required within one year of hire. - Licensure and
Certifications:
Radiology Technologist Licensure with advanced ARRT – MR certification (MR required within 1 year) or ARMRIT certification; BLS required. - Experience:
Previous MR experience preferred.
This position will spend 80% of the work time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and/or positioning patients and equipment up to 50 lbs. The remaining 20% of the time will be spent sitting while performing administrative duties in a standard office environment. The role serves a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population and has exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, magnetic fields, and radiation.
