Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in other pharmacy department duties in accordance with state, federal, and company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, and resolve customer issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Share customer‑service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens brand traits such as proactive help, needs identification, and service until satisfied.
- Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
- Under pharmacist supervision, assist in pharmacy practice, review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, ensuring correct data entry, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying the correct medication, and checking for possible interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adhere to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and take customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist’s attention, including patient physician calls.
- Correct and resubmit manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Assist and support the pharmacy department on inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments; maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques; file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
- Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting and properly labeling blood/urine samples from patients, and assist pharmacy staff in coordinating clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, through medical provider detailing, outreach, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for growth opportunities.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration; earn and maintain PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
- Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
$17.50 – $21 / Hourly
