JobQualifications
- Education: High school diploma is required. Technical degree required in disciplines such as Computer Engineering, CPA, etc.
- Experience: Five years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge in network administration and engineering.
- Knowledge in fiber optics, including high‑capacity networks such as DWDM, 100 Gbps, 400 Gbps, and 800 Gbps interfaces.
- Extensive high‑level understanding of TCP/IP, fiber optic cabling, IPv4 and IPv6, network security, process improvement, MPLS topologies, routers, VoIP, multicast, VLAN, and Linux operating systems.
- Oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the network required to provide data, voice, and video service to subscribers and back‑office integration.
- Responsible for day‑to‑day security of networks infrastructure and service provider applications.
- Designs and implements network connectivity for layer 2 and layer 3 LAN and WAN connections, including documentation of network connections.
- Provides support best practices to subscriber support department to ensure optimum subscriber experience.
- Develops maintenance plans, establishing procedures for maintenance windows to minimize downtime for subscribers for all network devices, implementing firmware and software updates and security patches and features.
- Designs and implements a plan to obtain the highest level of network uptime by creating network reliability targets and a reporting process for accountability.
- Ensures positive subscriber experience by planning for network capacity to minimize or eliminate congestion on the network.
- Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Frequent contacts with the general public, patrons, or other outside representatives, wherein the manner of handling these contacts has a bearing on the organization’s position and operation.
Other RequirementsMust be able to operate all equipment normally found in an office environment. Must have a valid driver’s license without violation, which would prohibit insurability. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
