Technology Support Services (Technology Solutions)
District Technical Support Technician (Field Tech II)

Fayetteville Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dependable District Technical Support Technician to join the Technology Department. This position provides district-level technical support across schools and facilities, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting school-based technology staff with escalated technical needs, and supporting the deployment and maintenance of district technology equipment.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Technology Department and travel throughout the district as needed to provide timely and effective technical support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide district-level technical support for hardware, software, and technology-related issues.
    • Support classroom technology including interactive displays, projectors, document cameras, audio systems, and related instructional technology.
  • Travel throughout the school district to provide on-site technical assistance.
  • Provide escalated technical guidance and support to school-based technology staff.
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace components on district laptops, desktops, and other technology equipment.
  • Perform screen repairs and other hardware repairs as needed.
  • Disassemble and reassemble district laptops and desktop computers for repair and maintenance.
  • Reload, configure, and prepare devices for deployment.
  • Assist with the delivery, pickup, deployment, and relocation of district technology equipment.
    • Assist with device inventory management, asset tracking, and lifecycle replacement programs.
  • Provide technical support for Windows, ChromeOS, macOS, and iOS devices.
  • Assist users with password resets, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and other account-related technology issues.
  • Assist with technology readiness and troubleshooting for state and district assessments.
  • Participate in summer technology refresh projects, mass deployments, and district-wide technology initiatives.
  • Perform other technology-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Working knowledge of Windows, ChromeOS, macOS, and iOS operating systems.
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Basic troubleshooting of wired and wireless network connectivity issues.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests while meeting established service expectations and deadlines.
  • Ability to provide professional and courteous customer service to students, staff, and school personnel.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the Technology Department and school-based technology staff.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
    .
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between district locations as required.
  • Valid driving ability and a safe driving record.
Customer Service

Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and excellent customer service while supporting staff, students, and administrators in a fast-paced educational environment.

Work Environment

This position requires regular travel throughout the district and hands-on work with computers, mobile devices, and other technology equipment. The technician should be comfortable working in school environments and responding to a variety of technical support needs.

The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, detail-oriented, and able to troubleshoot problems efficiently while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.

Pay Range 36

Step 6-12 (Based on Experience)

8 hours/day

235 days for full contract

Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $24.64 to $27.60 Per Hour
