Associate Criminal Defense Attorney
A well-established, prestigious law firm in Northwest Arkansas is seeking an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney to join the team full-time. The successful candidate will have extensive litigation expertise working in Criminal Defense Law with an overall commitment to providing exceptional legal services to clients of diverse backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent clients in criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies
- Manage caseload, conduct client appointments and interview witnesses
- Represent clients in court and mediation proceedings; cross-examine witnesses and present evidence in court
- Conduct legal research and analyze case law relevant to the defense
- Prepare and file legal documents such as motions, briefs, petitions, appeals, and waivers
- Advise clients on their legal rights, options throughout the legal process and case status; counsel client on case-related criminal law
- Develop strong defense strategies to achieve the best possible outcome for clients
- Negotiate plea deals and settlements with prosecutors
- Monitor changes in criminal law, regulations and trends, and advise clients accordingly
- Maintain detailed case files and documentation to ensure compliance with legal requirements and deadlines
- Ensure all legal procedures are followed and client’s rights protected
- Maintain confidentiality and build trust with clients
Qualifications
- Strong negotiation skills with excellent written/interpersonal/oral communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters and tasks in an efficient and effective manner
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while handling high caseload
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work professionally with clients, peers, and co-workers
- Willingness to work as part of a team, as well as independently
- Skilled in developing and maintaining long‑term client relationships
- Proficiency in court and legal research tools and software
- Proficiency with Google and Microsoft software
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active attorney license and in good standing in the state of Arkansas preferred
- Minimum of 2 (two) years practicing Criminal Defense law with strong trial / litigation experience representing clients in court
The position of Criminal Defense is a full‑time salaried position. Compensation is dependent upon experience. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
