Position Summary
The Swiss Lathe Specialist will set up and operate multi-axis Swiss lathes (Tsugami Preferred) to produce complex, tight-tolerance components for demanding aerospace and defense applications
.
This is a hands-on machining position for an experienced Swiss machinist who understands the importance of fast, accurate setups, process control, quality, and productivity
. In addition to producing quality parts, this position will require an important role in training and mentoring developing machinists by teaching setup techniques, machining processes, inspection methods, and shop standards directly on the floor.
Tsugami Swiss experience is required. The ability to perform rapid, repeatable setups is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate multi-axis Tsugami Swiss lathes to produce complex precision components.
- Perform rapid, accurate, and repeatable machine setups while minimizing downtime.
- Keep machines running efficiently and in cycle while maintaining production requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and CNC programs
. - Prove out first articles and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Maintain tight tolerances and consistently produce quality parts.
- Perform in-process and final inspection of your own work using appropriate precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain quality, consistency, and productivity
. - Identify and address process issues to reduce scrap and improve repeatability
. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Train and mentor developing machinists in machine setup, process control, quality requirements, inspection, and Maynard shop standards.
- Lead by example through strong work ethic, attention to detail, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality
. - Must Achieve Setup times consistently and drive reduction in runtimes.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- Proven multi-axis Swiss lathe experience — Required.
* Tsugami Preferred - Strong understanding of Swiss-type machining and complex multi-axis operations
. - Demonstrated ability to perform fast, accurate machine setups
. - Experience producing tight-tolerance precision components
. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Comfortable working from CNC programs and established machining processes
. - Strong understanding of part inspection and precision measurement
. - Experience working to aerospace and defense quality standards preferred.
- Ability and willingness to train, coach, and develop other machinists
. - Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and work ethic
. - Must be authorized to work in the United States in an ITAR-controlled manufacturing environment
. - Full-time, on-site position in Northwest Arkansas
