Job Description

Maynard Inc. is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team supporting aerospace and defense applications
. This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who understands that precision machining is about more than pushing buttons.

Our machinists work with complex, tight-tolerance components using advanced 5-axis CNC mills and mill-turn equipment
, machining materials such as Inconel, titanium, 17-4PH stainless steel, and other challenging metals
.

In addition to producing quality parts, this position will play an important role in developing and training the next generation of machinists
. The successful candidate will share their knowledge of machine setup, machining processes, inspection, quality standards, and shop practices directly on the floor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC mills
    , including simultaneous 5-axis machining.
  • Set up jobs independently
    , including tooling, work holding, offsets, and machine adjustments.
  • Machine complex, tight-tolerance aerospace and defense components from a variety of challenging materials.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications
    .
  • Work from CAM programs and CNC code to produce accurate, repeatable parts.
  • Prove out first articles and new jobs
    , making necessary adjustments to achieve quality and process requirements.
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of machined components using appropriate precision measuring equipment.
  • Monitor machining processes and make tooling, offset, and process adjustments to maintain part quality.
  • Identify potential issues before they result in scrap, rework, or production delays
    .
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following established shop and quality standards
    .
  • Help troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and setup issues
    .
  • Train and mentor less-experienced machinists and apprentices in proper setup, machining processes, inspection, quality expectations, and shop standards.
  • Lead by example and help promote a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
    .
  • Required to hit setup times consistently and drive runtime reduction.
Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Proven experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machining centers
    .
  • Simultaneous 5-axis machining experience preferred
    .
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, work holding, feeds and speeds, and offsets
    .
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications
    .
  • Experience machining aerospace, defense, or other highly precise components preferred.
  • Experience working with Inconel, titanium, 17-4PH, and other hard-to-machine materials preferred.
  • Strong understanding of precision inspection and measurement techniques
    .
  • Ability to identify and correct machining issues independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
