Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (Full time - Day shift, 7AM - 7PM)
Washington Regional Medical System, a community‑owned, non‑profit health care system located in Northwest Arkansas, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to provide direct, compassionate nursing care to expectant mothers and newborns during childbirth.

Position SummaryThe RN in Labor & Delivery reports to the Unit Manager and collaborates with the Director of Nursing to coordinate and deliver comprehensive nursing care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Responsibilities include assessment, monitoring, medication administration, emergency response, education, and documentation.
Essential Position Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient assessment using evidence‑based tools.
- Provide nursing care and emotional support to mothers during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Continuously monitor vital signs and fetal well‑being.
- Identify changes in patient condition and report promptly to the provider.
- Administer medications, pain relief, and assist with obstetric procedures, responding to emergencies as trained.
- Collaborate with obstetricians and interdisciplinary team to coordinate care.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records for mother and infant.
- Prepare and maintain delivery rooms and equipment.
- Participate in unit‑specific quality improvement and process improvement projects.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Arkansas RN license & CPR required; ACLS and NRP within 90 days of hire; stable license within 1 year.
- Previous experience in women’s health or labor & delivery preferred.
The position involves 80 % walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 lb; 20 % sitting. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and radiation is expected. The role serves a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population.
