WhatYou’ll Do
As a Sterile Processing Technician at Ortho Atlanta, you’ll:
- Review the OR schedule and prepare supplies and equipment based on surgeon preference cards and patient needs.
- Ensure all instruments are functioning properly prior to use.
- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, medical supplies, and equipment according to established standards.
- Assemble, wrap, and prepare trays for sterilization while maintaining accurate records.
- Monitor biological and chemical indicators to ensure effective sterilization and decontamination.
- Inspect, disassemble, sort, clean, and process reusable instruments and equipment.
- Follow manufacturer’s guidelines for proper use of cleaning agents and sterilizers.
- Collaborate with Circulating RNs regarding special equipment or supply needs.
- Maintain event-related products, sterilization load parameters, and inventory sheets.
- Report malfunctioning equipment promptly to appropriate staff or leadership.
- Demonstrate competence in surgical instrument identification and care.
- Support the surgical team by performing additional center responsibilities as assigned by the Charge Nurse or ASC Director.

- Have strong attention to detail and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and maintain a positive, collaborative attitude.

- Completion of a surgical technology and/or sterile processing program from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of sterile processing or surgical instrumentation experience.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented, professional, and able to maintain discretion.
