Path Group is seeking an AP/CP Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible Pathologist to join a collegial group based in Fayetteville, NC. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to practice in a diverse and growing environment serving an eight‑hospital system with on‑site pathology coverage. We are seeking a strong general surgical pathologist who thrives in a collaborative, high‑volume environment and values quality, efficiency, and teamwork.
Candidates with subspecialty training or interest, particularly in GI, cytopathology, or breast pathology, are highly encouraged to apply. While fellowship training is preferred, candidates with demonstrated experience are also welcome.
- Established group with three current AP/CP‑certified pathologists; actively hiring a fourth full‑time pathologist.
- All pathology services are performed on‑site at the hospital, which is a Breast Center of Excellence.
- Annual case volume includes approximately 16,000 surgical cases, 2,300 non‑GYN cytology cases, and 1,250 fine needle aspiration cases.
- No Pap smears, bone marrows, or autopsies. No procedural duties such as FNAs, though ROSE support is offered for some FNAs and select radiology procedures.
- Coverage includes the potential for one off‑site hospital location during call weeks; otherwise, most duties are performed at the main facility.
- Digital pathology implementation is underway, with full conversion expected by January 1. On‑site presence will remain required.
- Call is shared weekly on a rotating basis (1:4), with holidays rotated among team members.
- Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. when assigned frozen sections.
- Physicians are expected to live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call coverage.
Path Group has provided pathology services to this established hospital since 2019 and is the exclusive pathology provider for its expanding network of hospitals and clinics. Pathologists enjoy access to well‑trained support staff, including pathologist assistants who assist with grossing and frozen sections. The practice is also affiliated with a new school of medicine, where clinical rotations will include medical students.
