Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Eligible applicants must meet specific requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amounts (up to $200,000) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Applicants must meet the basic requirements listed below and any additional criteria in the job announcement. Pending applicants may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA physicians who met previous qualifications are considered to have met the basic requirements.

• United States citizenship or eligible non‑citizen status
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine
• Degree from a VA‑approved school for the year of completion
• Full and unrestricted medical license in any US state, territory, Commonwealth, or DC
• Completed residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty leading to board‑certification eligibility
• Residency programs: ACGME, AOA approved, or other non‑US residencies with at least five years of verified US practice
• Eligibility to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers when in a recognized training program
• Full licensing for PRPs, appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis only
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Physical ability to perform all required activities without restriction; duties include standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, stair travel

• Provide primary care for a panel of Veterans, ensuring quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction
• Conduct comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work‑up, and intervention in the Primary Care team setting
• Manage acute and chronic conditions of panel patients and refer to other services when indicated
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, recommend treatment, and continue follow‑up care
• Document patient encounters in the CPRS electronic health record on the day of the encounter
• Follow performance and clinical reminder guidelines, including timely prescription entry per VA formulary
• Act as a surrogate provider for colleagues on leave or travel
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and enhance team performance under VA policies and regulations
• Maintain policy compliance and contribute to organizational mission and program goals

• Competitive salary range: $240,000 to $315,000 per year
