Primary Purpose of the OrganizationThe primary purpose is to serve children from 5 months through 5 years of age. The Center is under the direction of the College of Education. It was established in the fall of 1970 to provide Early Childhood Education majors an opportunity to become familiar with young children and their characteristics. In addition to being a center for the training of Early Childhood students, the Early Childhood Learning Center also has as one of its goals to provide a learning environment that will help children develop to their maximum potential: physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
The ECLC serves not only the University but also Fayetteville and the surrounding communities. The Cumberland County Department of Social Services Childcare Unit and Partnership for Children of Cumberland County refer to as many of its childcare applicants as space permits.
The primary purpose of this position is to implement Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Ready Rosie to children enrolled in NC Pre-K. The prospective employee must enroll in the Early Educator Support Unit under the Division of Child Development and Early Education. The prospective employee will be fully responsible for planning a program that will enrich the physical, social, and emotional needs of children enrolled in NC Pre-K.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a teaching license
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and able to obtain a teaching license within one year of employment
- Bachelor’s degree in Birth to Kindergarten or Early Childhood Education, with a teaching license. One year of childcare experience.
