Join the Ulta Beauty team as an Assistant Stylist and support guests in creating a total look and experience.

Ulta Beauty is the leading North American beauty retailer and salon destination. The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, recommends products and services, and processes through all operational aspects of the store.

The Assistant Stylist is a temporary trainee role designed to prepare talent for a full stylist position. The first three months involve mentorship by an Elite or Master Stylist. From months four–six, the trainee begins servicing guests independently while continuing to assist and refine skills.

• Deliver exceptional guest service and support sales and productivity goals for hair services and products.
• Assist mentor stylist with add‑on recommendations, shampoo and treatment process, blowouts and styling, color applications, foils, sanitation, pre‑booking, and retail recommendations.
• After month three, perform hair services: hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services and share knowledge with guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and retail/service recommendations.
• Serve walk‑in guests in a timely manner under mentorship.
• Partner with skin therapists and retail team for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and App benefits.

• Maintain compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Follow established service protocols for consistent guest experience.
• Use booking systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness of salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices to protect assets.
• Complete other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license.

• Basic understanding of latest salon techniques for cutting, coloring, lightening, styling, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing.
• Basic understanding of equipment and chemicals for technical work.
• Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

• Work flexible schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Frequent mobility, bending, reaching, twisting.
• Continuous lifting/moving up to 10 lbs.
• Stand for long periods.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
• Frequent use of computer, phone, and office/cosmetology supplies.
