Summary
An Optical Technician at Eye Care Partners will achieve a world‑class Total Patient Experience that maximizes retail sales while supporting patients’ medical needs. The team member dispenses and fits glasses and contacts, working from prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists.
LocationWork is primarily performed in a standard office or clinical setting. Travel to other locations may be required to carry out essential job duties and responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships while delivering great medical support.
- Determine patient wants and needs and sell to exceed expectations.
- Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
- Operate the auto‑lensometer and manual lensometer.
- Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs.
- Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, segment heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
- Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust frames.
- Dispense all glasses and/or contact lens orders using current process.
- Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year interacting with customers/patients or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Favorable background check result as required by state.
- Must prove identity and right to work in the United States.
High school diploma or GED required.
Licenses and CredentialsABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not required.
Systems and TechnologyProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Physical RequirementsRequires frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%). Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands essential. Visual and auditory acuity (including color, depth, peripheral vision) required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
