SummaryPrepares laboratory specimens for microscopic evaluation by the pathologist using microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, and if necessary, grossing of specimens per department policy.
Major Job Functions- Provides direction and guidance for questions andגלית problems referred by a Histotechnician concerning specimen acceptability, unusual or discrepant results and instrument or method problems.
- Prepares specimen using the appropriate technique required to produce an acceptable sample for evaluation by the pathologist.
- Follows established procedures for histology quality control, CAP, JCAHO, other regulatory agencies and reports discrepancies to the Histology Technical Specialist.
- Performs scheduled and as needed maintenance on equipment routinely used in specimen preparation.
- Troubleshoots equipment, reagents, or procedural technique when problems occur.
- Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal لديهم precautions and safety procedures.
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific доранд‑related hazards.
- Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
- Performs all duties in accordance with CLIA requirements for High Complexity Testing Personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology program required OR Bachelor’s degree with education specific to that outlined by CLIA for High Complexity Testing Personnel required.
- Completed a HTL training program required OR has at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing required.

- Possess knowledge/skill of appropriate collection techniques.
- Interacts with patients according to the Erickson model of development.
- Skills for accepting responsibility, making decisions, and working as a team.
- Lifting to 50 pounds.
- General motion including bending, squatting, reaching, carrying, pushing and pulling.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to speak plainly.
- Near visual acuity with ability to discern colors.
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane打法 or parentertał contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
