Prepares laboratory specimens for microscopic evaluation by the pathologist using microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, and if necessary, grossing of specimens per department policy.

• Provides direction and guidance for questions andגלית problems referred by a Histotechnician concerning specimen acceptability, unusual or discrepant results and instrument or method problems.
• Prepares specimen using the appropriate technique required to produce an acceptable sample for evaluation by the pathologist.
• Follows established procedures for histology quality control, CAP, JCAHO, other regulatory agencies and reports discrepancies to the Histology Technical Specialist.
• Performs scheduled and as needed maintenance on equipment routinely used in specimen preparation.
• Troubleshoots equipment, reagents, or procedural technique when problems occur.
• Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal لديهم precautions and safety procedures.
• Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific доранд‑related hazards.
• Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
• Performs all duties in accordance with CLIA requirements for High Complexity Testing Personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology program required OR Bachelor’s degree with education specific to that outlined by CLIA for High Complexity Testing Personnel required.
• Completed a HTL training program required OR has at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing required.

• Possess knowledge/skill of appropriate collection techniques.
• Interacts with patients according to the Erickson model of development.
• Skills for accepting responsibility, making decisions, and working as a team.

• Lifting to 50 pounds.
• General motion including bending, squatting, reaching, carrying, pushing and pulling.
• Manual dexterity.
• Ability to speak plainly.
• Near visual acuity with ability to discern colors.
• May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane打法 or parentertał contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
