Summary of

Job Duties:

The Microbiome & Bacterial Immunology laboratory at the Department of Animal Science investigates the host–microbiome interface in livestock, with emphasis on bacterial translocation from the gut to low‑microbial‑load tissues, host immune responses, and interventions to reduce antibiotic dependence. We seek a full‑time laboratory technician to support molecular biology, microbiome analytics, bacterial isolation/culture, and immunology workflows. Prior experience in molecular biology or microbiome research is preferred but not required.

Comprehensive training will be provided.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science
    , or a related field.
  • Excellent attention to detail
    , organization, and record‑keeping.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and follow SOPs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DNA/RNA extraction
    , PCR/qPCR
    , or microbiome workflows
  • Familiarity with aerobic/anaerobic culture techniques
  • Experience in histology or immunohistochemistry
  • Basic data handling (Excel/Google Sheets; optional R/Python exposure a plus)
