Type: 6-month contract to hire
Pay on contract: $65-80/hr (experience dependent)
Pay upon conversion: up to $160k
Responsibilities- Manage distributed and managed services, automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
- Tune system performance for reliability and efficiency, guiding and managing software releases for new features.
- Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
- Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
- Troubleshoot system related problems and remain current in operating systems and software analysis.
- Recommend future direction or projects to management and provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.
- 5+ years of IT and/or software experience.
- 3+ years working in production Amazon Web Services environments.
- DOD 8570 IAT Level II Required (Level III Preferred).
- In-depth understanding of Dev Ops methodologies and working within Agile teams.
- Experience with Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, Team City or other Continuous Integration tools.
- Experience working within virtualized environments and with virtual networking appliances (NGINX, HAProxy, F5, AWS ALB/NLB, TLS/SSL).
- Experience with Git-centric workflows, release management, and Linux automation scripts (shell/BASH).
- Proficient with container technologies (Docker, rkt, containerd, lxd) and 3 years of Kubernetes experience.
- Excellent communication, briefing, and technical guidance skills.
- Solid work ethic and ability to work in a mission‑critical environment.
- Detail oriented with holistic understanding of IT systems.
- Experience in multiple public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with PaaS products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk.
- In-depth Ansible playbook knowledge.
- Experience managing and deploying applications in air‑gapped environments.
- Experience with complex identity and access management technologies (Active Directory, SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC).
- Systems monitoring, alerting, and analytics expertise (Splunk, ELK, Prometheus).
- Windows automation (Power Shell) and Git Lab CI/CD functionality.
- Collaboration tools experience (Jira, Confluence, Rocketchat).
- Rancher for Kubernetes cluster management.
- PKI infrastructure management within a DOD context.
- Ability to write rudimentary APIs or automation to interact with existing APIs.
