Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Birch Agency is currently looking for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter for a school-based opening for the 2025/2026 school year in Fayetteville, NC. This position is full time. You must have a 3.5 or higher EIPA. Relocation Assistance and Sign On Bonus up to $1,500. Pay is based on experience.

• Provide sign language interpretive services as specified in the IEP.
• Interpret information, lectures, discussion, classroom activities, school meetings, training and conferences.
• Prepare and study subject matter being taught or presented to ensure clear interpretation.
• Adapt interpretations to the varying and diverse needs and abilities of students, teachers, and community members.
• Provide interpretation for various situations, such as assemblies, field trips, meetings, test administration, phone calls, music, extra‑curricular activities, and sports events.
• Interpret informal conversations with students and staff during unstructured time.
• Participate as a team member for planning and reviewing daily activities, attending in‑services and information sharing for the purpose of optimizing staff and student participation in the educational environment.
• Provide staff with information regarding the interpretation process as well as the needs and concerns of individuals who are D/HH for the purpose of creating a positive Deaf‑friendly climate.
• Collaborate with Teachers of the D/HH, other classroom teachers and other school staff to provide optimal educational opportunities.

• Passed the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of at least 3.5.
