Description
The Concrete Block Machine Technician and Operator is responsible for leading either daily or nightly operations at the Block Plant. This includes coordinating schedules with the Day Shift and Night Shift Plant Manager, as well as training and supporting Block Machine Operators, Machine Operators, General Laborers, and Forklift Drivers.
A key responsibility of this role is performing and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance on Besser and Columbia block machines to ensure optimal performance, minimize downtime, and support continuous production.
The Block Machine Technician/Operator is accountable for maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards throughout the Night Shift or Day Shift operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate batching systems, block machines, splitters, curing systems, and related automation.
- Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain safe, efficient production.
- Operate forklifts, perform tool changes, and keep work areas clean.
- Conduct maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Accurately track production data and complete reports.
- Follow all safety and operational procedures while working as part of a team.
- Train team members on equipment operation and safety protocols.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience operating block machines (Besser, Columbia, Tiger, etc.).
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in roles such as Team Lead
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience, including preventive maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
- 2 years of heavy equipment operation (forklifts, front-end loaders, etc.).
Physical Requirements: Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this role safely and successfully in compliance with federal, state, and local standards (ADA, FMLA, etc.). This includes regular lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, and extended periods of outdoor work. Employees must maintain regular and punctual attendance and possess the visual acuity necessary to maintain safety awareness.
Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.
