Concrete Block Machine Operator

Description

Block Machine Operator is responsible for operating and coordinating all machinery, tooling and equipment in the plant including start-up, set-up / change-over, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and shut-down activities. Block Machine Operator controls the functions of all processing activities and assists in training employees to improve Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

• Operate equipment (startup, calibration, setup / changeover, shutdown, cleanup) in a safe manner: All batching systems, block machines, splitters, curing systems, material handling / dispensing / mixing / transfer systems and support automation in all plants.
• Monitor and manage performance of all systems and make adjustments as needed to maintain safety, quality and productivity to established standards.
• Operate forklift safely: Move materials, tooling changes, maintenance, housekeeping.
• Maintain work areas: Keep storage locations for tooling, equipment, maintenance supplies organized; and maintain the material control and replenishment system.
• Perform maintenance activities: Inspection, maintenance and cleaning on equipment, machinery, tooling, compressors, hoppers, mixers, material handling systems, and personnel facilities. Troubleshoot electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, repair problems.
• Maintain accurate and timely reporting and recordkeeping: Production schedules, downtime reports, inspection logs, production reporting, sampling / testing reports.
• Be an effective team member: Always wear PPE and work safely, be an example of good behavior. Follow all work processes and policies. Work cooperatively with co‑workers when changes occur to the production schedule. Manage working hours, days and shift schedules, based on production needs.
• Other Duties as assigned

• Able to communicate (written and verbal) in English (full proficiency is a plus).
• Valid NC Driver License, clean driving record, and / or have reliable transportation to work.
• 3 years’ operating Columbia 16 and 1600, Besser v3 12, servo pack, ultrapac, Infinity.
• Operate computer-controlled production machinery, and automated batching systems.
• Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule.
• Communicate well with team members and supervision.
• Apply creativity to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team.
