Position: Nursing (LPN/RN) - Open Recruiting
TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program and licensed by the NC Board of Nursing. Experience in pediatrics. Must assist children with medical procedures during the school day, including tracheostomy care.

REPORTS TO: Health Services Director or Health Services Lead Nurse

JOB GOAL: To monitor status and provide and/or assist with medical procedures for a student that requires constant medical supervision and care during the school day as required by the Plan of Care.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitors students' medical status during the school day.
• Enter medical information into EZ Ed Med.
• Provides and/or assists with medical procedures as ordered by the Physician during the school day.
• Observation of skin for bed sores.
• Provides and assists students with personal care needs during the day.
• Administers medication prescribed by a physician.
• Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse of changes in student's health status.
• Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse of changes in individual caregiver's health status.
• Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse when absences may occur to determine coverage for students.
• Moves patients safely.
• Monitors fluid and food intake and output.
• Performs special procedures as directed.
• Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing diversity.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
