Mechanical Service Technician

Job Description

Forklift and Material Handling Equipment service technicians, (also called mechanics) perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts and of material handling equipment. Equipment including but not limited to...Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Pallet Jacks, etc. q

Duties include but are not limited to...

-Troubleshoot forklift potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.

-Be able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.

-The ability to work on LP, gas and diesel equipment.

-Consult equipment operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings to perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changing and lubricating equipment.

-Diagnose and identify malfunctions using computerized tools and equipment.

-Inspect, repair and replace defective worn parts/bearings/pistons/gears.

-Overhaul and test major components such as engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

-Disassemble and reassemble equipment and components.

-May travel to worksites to repair/service equipment.

-Maintain records of equipment condition and work performed.

-Repair and maintain engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems. Also ensure the performance and safety of fuel lines, brakes and other systems.

** Service Technicians are required to have their own personal tools for use and a valid NC drivers license.

** Technicians are paid on a 3 tier system based on competency...Entry, Intermediate, Master (Skills will be evaluated during established probationary periods).
