Position: Social Work Supervisor III (122400596, 122400582 )

This position is located in the Children Services section.

Previous candidates are still being considered and do not need to reapply.

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise workers as they provide Protective Services and Foster Care Services within Children’s Services. When children cannot remain safely with family of origin, the plan of care may change to provide permanency in other out-of-home placements, to include adoptive placement. This position may also be responsible for supervising the group home to include staff and this position may be responsible for the ESSA/GAP programs, the DJJ liaison and the child and family facilitator positions.

The majority of this worker's time is spent insuring continuity of services to children and families, for monitoring worker contact with children and families, and for insuring immediate response to children and families in crisis. This worker will ensure that the unit structure operates in such a way that workers are able to complete administrative tasks associated with their job requirement to include "protected time" when necessary.

The supervisor in this position must review and participate in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to intake, placement of children in foster care, case transfer, dictation format, etc. Because state and federal mandates must be met, policies and procedures developed must incorporate such mandates. This worker must participate in setting both programmatic and operational goals for their unit and the Children's Services Section.

Goal planning is critical in such areas as staff development, in-service training, and service provision. Assisting workers in setting priorities is an integral part of the supervisor's responsibility as it pertains to protection, placement, and permanency for children served in the Children’s Services Division.
