My client is looking for an experienced Contract Manager to join its highways and infrastructure operation based from Featherstone. You will take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects, giving you the opportunity to lead experienced teams, work closely with key clients and oversee schemes from pre-construction through to completion.

You will be joining an established organisation delivering critical highway maintenance and infrastructure projects across the UK, with a strong focus on safety, quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.

What you will be doing

As Contract Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of multiple highways and civil engineering projects.

  • Leading the delivery of highway maintenance and civil engineering schemes from inception through to completion.
  • Managing Project Managers, Construction Managers and operational teams to achieve programme, commercial and performance objectives.
  • Building trusted and collaborative relationships with clients, customers and key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring project performance, programme delivery, budgets and financial outcomes.
  • Reviewing and approving key health and safety documentation, including RAMS and Construction Phase Plans.
  • Supporting tender submissions and pre-construction activities through site visits and technical input.
  • Overseeing temporary works, quality assurance and compliance requirements.
  • Identifying project risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing team members to support their progression and performance.
  • Ensuring projects meet required health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Taking ownership of contract performance and helping drive continuous improvement across the wider operation.
What you will need
  • An HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • NVQ Level 6 or Level 7.
  • A valid CSCS Manager Card.
  • SMSTS.
  • Previous experience working as a Contract Manager or in a senior operational leadership position within highways or civil engineering.
  • A strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Experience using MS Project.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

It would also be beneficial if you hold a Temporary Works Coordinator qualification, NRSWA accreditation or have previous experience delivering projects on National Highways or high-speed road networks.

What you will get
  • You will receive a salary of up to £75,000, dependent on experience, alongside the opportunity to take a senior role within a growing highways and infrastructure business.
  • You will be given the autonomy to lead significant projects, develop your team and make a visible contribution to operational and commercial performance.
  • You will also have opportunities to continue developing your own skills and progress your career as the business grows.

The position is based in Featherstone, with travel required across Yorkshire, the North East and other UK project locations.

My client promotes a collaborative and inclusive working environment where people are respected, supported and encouraged to develop. Safety, wellbeing, quality and creating positive outcomes for customers and communities remain central to how the business operates.
