HSE Manager - Interim

Reports to: Site Manager
The RoleWe are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to join our Featherstone site on a fixed-term contract of up to three months. This is a hands‑on interim role to maintain and strengthen health, safety and environmental performance during a period of transition – keeping the site compliant, well‑managed and safe, and providing visible HSE leadership from day one.
You’ll work closely with the site management team, hit the ground running, and make an immediate impact on risk management, compliance and safety culture.
What You’ll Do- Provide day-to-day HSE leadership and act as the site’s trusted advisor on health, safety and environmental matters.
- Maintain compliance with kp standards and UK legislation, and keep management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001, BRCGS where applicable) running smoothly.
- Lead risk identification, assessment and control, and carry out high-quality incident investigations that prevent recurrence.
- Support and coach managers and supervisors to sustain visible safety leadership and accountability across the site.
- Oversee inspections, audits, emergency preparedness (fire, evacuation, first aid) and environmental compliance.
- Monitor leading and lagging indicators (incidents, near‑mises, audits), report to leadership, and keep momentum on continual improvement.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification); CMIOSH desirable. Equivalent qualifications and experience considered.
- Proven HSE management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments – packaging or related industries preferred.
- Strong, practical knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation and safety training.
- The ability to start quickly and operate effectively with minimal onboarding – ideally with previous interim or contract experience.
- A confident, credible HSE professional who builds trust quickly and influences at all levels.
- Pragmatic, hands‑on and delivery‑focused, comfortable stepping into an established site at pace.
- An excellent communicator with a genuine commitment to safety excellence.
