Cardiac Sonographer

Job SummaryPrepare patients, perform ultrasound tests based on physicians’ orders and department protocols, and provide high‑quality diagnostic information while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities- Explain procedures to patients, respond to questions, and review medical records for pertinent history.
- Utilize equipment and accessories, employing techniques to comfort and protect the patient while ensuring consistent results.
- Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and cleaning per manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Deliver patient care to all age groups while performing ultrasound exams, procedures, and special procedures.
- Act as liaison between patient and physician.
- Perform basic patient‑care functions and respond to emergencies within scope of authority.
- Maintain accurate patient records and advise nursing staff of significant changes during procedures.
- Review and compile clinical data for physician interpretation and ensure diagnostic quality.
- Perform incidental office duties—including answering phone, scheduling, filing, maintaining records, and ordering supplies.
- Participate in ordering and inventorying equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and effective communication with diverse patient populations.
- Perform related duties as required.
Full time (PRN) – Days shift, no more than 40 hours per week.
LocationIn person.
Pay$47.86 – $74.26 per hour.
Job Requirements- Education/Experience – Graduation from an accredited diagnostic ultrasound/echo sonography program; one year of post‑graduate cardiac ultrasound experience preferred.
- Job Knowledge & Abilities – Knowledge of diagnostic sonographic principles, equipment operation, regulatory requirements, department protocols, medical terminology, and cardiac examination techniques; ability to perform procedures in compliance with standards and to assist physicians.
- Demonstrated organization, time‑management, and communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Current registration by ARDMS or current certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
